Monterey Zoo is in the middle of a massive transformation, adding world class exhibits that also give our animals maximum space in the most natural, humane, and mentally stimulating environments possible. Our mission is to provide an entertaining, intimate educational experience that fosters respect and admiration for all wildlife. Thanks to the generosity of private donors like you, we are well on our way to fulfilling our mission and completing Monterey County’s first and only zoo – a special place where families can make memories to last a lifetime.
OZ is finished! Lions, tigers, and bears! Oh, my! Our upper level renovation is complete with a new picnic area and restrooms to complement the exciting landscape for our animals. There is nothing more inspiring or important to us than to provide the best environment possible for our animals – and OZ does just that. And it’s just the beginning!
We are now moving on to renovations on our lower level and we need your help! We encourage you to get involved in this amazing adventure – perhaps even sponsor an exhibit! The hyena exhibit and leopard digs are the next priorities – check out the plans below.
