Several schools and animal related programs have sanctioned the Monterey Zoo for student internships. Students are accepted upon the recommendation of those schools or programs. Volunteers can apply at any time with our zoo education staff and are welcome additions to our our team.
Volunteers and interns assist with animal care, daily feedings and cleaning under the oversight of our full time staff. Most volunteer and intern activities involve helping with the tremendous amount of maintenance required by a zoo. Often there is an opportunity for volunteers and interns to assist in training and social time, as permitting and safety allows.
Volunteers and interns are always first on our list for permanent employment positions.
